PLC Technician/Automation Technician.
Immediate Need

Location: Cold Spring, MN

Status: non-exempt

Position Summary: This position is responsible to troubleshoot, fix and maintain the various Programmable Controllers throughout the facility, in the most cost efficient and cost effective manner, while maintaining all quality and safety standards. This position also assists in the planning for and installation of new equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Maintenance Manager on controlling all department costs and developing metrics to track these costs to contain and improve.
  • Schedule and complete all projects/assignments in a timely, cost efficient manner. Coordinate these efforts with all managers as needed.
  • Assists with negotiating price, terms, conditions, with outside suppliers used to meet project needs.
  • Assists with the overseeing of installation to ensure machines and other equipment are installed and functioning according to specification.
  • Tests ability of machines to perform designated tasks.
  • Confers with operational personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop solutions.
  • Assist in preparing estimates for labor and material costs on projects in area of responsibility.
  • Keep current on latest PLC methods and tools, to ensure best possible practice in the work place.
  • Prepares clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes by using computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required by the supervisor/customer.
  • Adhere to and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined in Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to and comply with quality production and Food Safety.


Position Requirements:
  • Post secondary training in Electronics Repair, specifically including PLC's
  • 3-5 years experience in a high speed production environment is preferred
  • Extended standing on hard surfaces.
  • High degree of troubleshooting capability
  • Must have thorough knowledge in areas of production and warehouse operations
  • May be required to work and direct in confined spaces and work with high pressure steam
  • Will work around noise, dust, variable temperatures and use of production chemicals
  • Regular bending, stooping and lifting up to 60lbs.
  • Position must be able to communicate with all levels of employees, vendors, customers and visitors.
