Blending Lead

Our Opportunity: Blending Lead
Status: Full Time Day Shift [or Full Time Night Shift]
Hours: 12 hour shift - 6a-6p [or 6p-6a]
Schedule: 2-2-3 rotating shifts (work 15 days a month!)
Compensation: $23.00 - $24.50 per hour depending on experience
[Plus a $2.00 night shift differential if applicable]

Summary
Through the Batching Manager, this position is in charge of all batching processes at the production facility during their shift. This position is also responsible for keeping the Batching Manager and other management informed of the above process at the plant in addition to being the liaison between the company and customer.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Being sensitive to Confidentiality Agreements, works as liaison between the company and customer.
  • Monitors activities in area of responsibility at all times during shift.
  • Trains and leads, as well as communicates effectively with all co-workers.
  • Works to minimize change over time.
  • Ensures that every detail and specification of each product is met.
  • Ensures co-workers follow recipes and directions, "to the letter."
  • Oversees batching, preparation for batching, movement to storage and all associated record keeping.
  • Ensures all batching specifications are met using refractometer and hydrometer readings (BRIX) and CO2 tests.
  • Assists the lab in TA, PH, and alcohol tests.
  • Keeps track of assigned inventory and notifies warehouse when low.
  • Is responsible for maintaining proper sanitation, keeping track of what chemicals are used and in what concentration.
  • Responsible to evaluate and make suggestions for the continuous improvement of processes in area of responsibility.
  • Must learn and apply new processes and procedures in area of responsibility.
  • Ensures all equipment is maintained, calibrated, and working properly at peak efficiency.
  • Aid in coordinating batching repairs with maintenance and following up on these items.
  • Coordinate kits, sugar, and tote loads to the plant from the receiving distribution center.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined in Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to and comply with quality production and Food Safety.


What You Need to Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in a blending or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret formulas and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records with m
ath and science skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAP or other inventory management systems
  • Experience with GMP and/or HACCP regulations
  • 1-3 years' experience in a Production environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Forklift certification

Job Setting
This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Employees will experience varying physical demands throughout the day, including standing for extended periods, walking on occasionally slippery floors, and handling equipment or materials.

Due to the nature of the facility, temperatures may fluctuate based on outside weather conditions including heat and cold.

The work environment can be loud, and hearing protection (ear plugs) is required. Additionally, to ensure safety and hygiene, employees must wear hairnets and refrain from wearing jewelry while on the production floor.

Alcohol is an ingredient in products we produce. We are unable to guarantee specific positions, work schedules or work environments that do not include working around alcohol.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds frequently
  • Extended standing on hard surfaces.
  • Vision required: distance, close, color, peripheral and depth perception
  • Frequently required to stand, talk or hear, use hands to finger, feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Occasionally exposed to working on elevated platforms, confined spaces, with fumes or airborne particles and/or toxic/caustic chemicals, and his pressure steam.
  • Frequently exposed to working near mechanical parts and exposed to vibration.
